UL Students

Here is some information on the services and facilities available to the University of Limerick students staying at Thomond Village.

With close to 12,000 students, including more than 2,000 international students each year, UL is a young, vibrant university. UL offers more than 70 undergraduate programs across Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Education and Health Sciences, Science and Engineering, and the Kemmy Business School.

Known as ‘Ireland’s Sporting Campus’, UL Sports Arena attracts more than 600,000 visitors each year.

Proximity and Buses

A number of local and regional buses serve the University of Limerick. Most daily services from the City Centre to UL depart from Lower William Street at regular intervals. Click on the tabs below for routes and timetables.

Student Health

The Student Health Centre is located in block C, level M (room CM061) in the main building and provides a service for University of Limerick registered students only.
The Student Health Centre Reception/Administration Office opening hours are Monday to Friday 09:00-16.30
Appointments can be made by either telephoning or by calling in to the Student Health Centre Reception.
The nurse will also be on call for end of semester exams taking place on a Saturday and a contact mobile number will be made available.
The Student Health Centre is an acute care/advisory service, it is not a GP service. All students are therefore advised to register with a local GP.

Counselling Service

Eíst – Student Counselling and Wellbeing Service is a free and confidential service, which is available to all registered UL students.
The service provides one-to-one counselling and specialist input to assist students on their progress through University life, with all of its stresses and strains. This includes support in times of immediate crisis.

Where to Eat

Stables Club – Serves food and beverages all day. Located in the social hub of the Student Centre. Visit the Stables Club website for more information

Scholar’s Club – The Scholar’s Club offers food and beverages in a relaxed environment. Located adjacent to the Spar store in the Student Centre. More information

The Paddocks Restaurant – located in the Student Centre.

Plaza Café – Located in the library building. A good venue if you want a break from the study for a coffee and snacks.

University Club – Fine dining in the surroundings of Plassey House.

Cube Café: Cube Café is a newly refurbished gastro style restaurant that offers customers a bright, healthy and comfortable space to relax in. Check out https://www.facebook.com/EatatUL/

Red Raisins, Main Building, Level 1, Block B – Starbucks, Subway & Chicken Shack. Red Raisins is the place to drop in for a Starbucks Coffee, a great tasting Subway Sandwich or a Chicken Shack Wrap.

River Café, Millstream Courtyard – Great food overlooking the river.

River Bistro: Relax & enjoy your lunch in the comfortable surroundings of River Bistro located overlooking the millstream river. Check out www.riverbistro.ie

The Right Track Café is located in the PE Building on the west side of campus between Kilmurry student village and the Sports Arena.

Café Allegro, Foundation Building – Café Allegro is a comfortable, relaxed, quieter alternative to other outlets on the campus.

Café Aroma, Computer Science Building – This cosy café is a great place to spend a break and enjoy a Grumpy Mule coffee or Chicken Shack
